Every pledge truly matters!


Giving is an important part of our spiritual growth and our relationship with God. We ask each parishioner to consider making a pledge that is both responsible and significant based on his or her financial situation. A tithe is 10% of one’s income, and is often a benchmark reached after incremental increases each year. At Church of the Messiah every pledge, no matter what amount, makes a valued contribution to our mission and ministry.

    Be sure to inform the representative you speak with, or indicate at the online selection, that

    The Episcopal Church of the Messiah, in Santa Ana, CA, is the non-profit of your choice.  

     

    The organization takes care of all the details, from towing the vehicle to making sure the net amount received from the sale is sent to Messiah, S.A.

  • Those wishing to support Church of the Messiah's presence, ministries and community outreach can now donate property. 

     

    Accepted are all types of real estate donations, *nationwide:* estates, land, houses, vacation cottages, farms, rental property buildings, commercial real estate and more.

     

    You may have inherited a house from a loved one that you have no use for, so you want to honor their memory by donating it to Messiah Church.

     

    Or you purchased a piece of land with the intention of building on it, but never wound up having the time. So, each year you pay taxes for something you do not use.  

     

    Perhaps you invested in property, and over the years it accrued a lot of value.  In some cases, the capital gains taxes you would need to pay if you sold make it smarter to donate and receive a large tax deduction.

MOST COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • A pledge is a financial promise. Each autumn, we renew our commitment to one another and the ministry of the Church by making a financial pledge. A pledge may be changed as needed throughout the year by calling the finance office. You are welcome to fill out a pledge card at any time.

  • Annual pledges support everything we do and are at Church of the Messiah—from supporting our outreach ministries to our musical offerings to having outstanding staff. Every pledge matters and even a small increase in your yearly personal giving is magnified dramatically when our entire community gives together.

  • We ask each person to consider making a pledge that is both responsible and significant based on his or her financial situation. A tithe (10% of one’s income) is often a benchmark reached after incremental increases each year.

  • We ask everyone to make a pledge during October of each year so that we can plan our budget for the coming year. Of course, new pledges are welcomed throughout the year.

  • Many people fulfill their pledge monthly, quarterly, or even in one payment. However, you may fulfill your pledge in as many payments as you wish throughout the year. Pledges are fulfilled on a calendar year basis, beginning January 1.

  • A pledge can be adjusted during the year if your circumstances change. We suggest that you pledge responsibly, based on your best estimate of the year’s income.

  • Our church does live within its means, and each year the Vestry adopts a balanced budget. Your pledge made during the annual pledge campaign is critical to establish that budget, as our income projections are based primarily on pledges that we receive from our members. If pledges are not received, then adjustments are made in the church’s budget and programming, sometimes during the program year, which is why we close every year in the black.
